Privacy Policy

Last Updated: December 1, 2025

TL;DR: ClipGo doesn't collect, store, or transmit ANY of your data. Everything stays on your device. We can't see your clips even if we wanted to.

Our Privacy Commitment

ClipGo is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you, and only you.

Unlike most web services, we don't have servers storing your information. We don't have databases tracking your behavior. We don't have analytics dashboards monitoring your usage.

We literally cannot access your clips because they never leave your computer.

What Data We Collect

None.

ClipGo does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data. This includes:

  • Your saved clips and highlights
  • The websites you visit
  • Your browsing history
  • Your IP address
  • Any personally identifiable information

Where Your Data Lives

All clips you save are stored using Chrome's local storage API (chrome.storage.local). This means:

  • Data is stored only on your device
  • Data is never uploaded to any server
  • Data is not synced across devices
  • Only you can access your clips

If you uninstall ClipGo, all your data is automatically deleted from your device.

Third-Party Services

ClipGo does not use:

  • Analytics tools (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • Advertising networks
  • Tracking pixels or cookies
  • External APIs or cloud services

The extension is 100% self-contained and offline-capable.

Permissions Explained

ClipGo requests the following Chrome permissions. Here's exactly why:

  • activeTab: To read highlighted text from the webpage you're currently viewing (only when you click the save button)
  • storage: To save your clips locally on your device using Chrome's storage API
  • contextMenus: To add the "Save to ClipGo" option when you right-click on selected text

We do not request permissions for:

  • Reading all your browsing history
  • Accessing your tabs in the background
  • Making network requests

Data Export & Deletion

You have full control over your data:

  • Export: Use the "Export Data" button in the extension to download all your clips as a JSON file
  • Delete: Uninstall the extension to remove all data, or delete individual clips anytime

Updates to This Policy

If we ever change how ClipGo handles data (spoiler: we won't), we'll update this page and notify users through the extension.

Any changes will maintain our core principle: your data stays yours.
